Welcome to 8KU

8KU is a unique nationwide collaboration of eight large German municipal energy suppliers and comprises of 8KU Renewables GmbH and 8KU Office. The joint venture 8KU Renewables GmbH is involved at a project level, in contrast to the 8KU Office, which operates in the field of energy policy issues.

Founded in 2009 8KU Renewables GmbH identifies, assesses, and develops renewable energy projects for its shareholders which intend to gain significant market share in the area of generating renewable energy, especially by technologies such as wind (onshore and offshore), photovoltaic, and biomass.

For the 8KU energy suppliers investing in renewable energy projects is the main strategic approach to public utility development, thereby acknowledging that the value of a conservation of nature is steadily increasing.

Since 2007 the 8KU Office has been setting new goals for climate protection, efficiency, innovation, and a fair market design as an important contribution to modern energy policy.
